Crossroads  Dayton Campus

Crossroads transformed a former Sears inside the Dayton Mall into a vibrant, 90,000-square-foot space designed for connection, community, and purpose. This renovation brought new life to a tired building, creating an environment where people gather not just for amazing Sunday services, but throughout the week. It’s open all week as a welcoming place to enjoy free coffee, connect in conversation, and share meaningful moments.

Crossroads Mason wasn’t simply updating a room—they were responding to undeniable growth in their student ministry. As more students showed up each week, the need became clear: create a space that could match the energy, scale, and significance of what God was already doing. This project became an opportunity to transform an existing environment into something more unified, more engaging, and more aligned with their mission to reach the next generation.Crossroads transformed a former Sears inside the Dayton Mall into a vibrant, 90,000-square-foot space designed for connection, community, and purpose. The Challenge

Designing for Growth

Crossroads Mason faced a unique challenge: how to take an existing chapel and evolve it into a space that could effectively serve both as a primary worship venue and a dedicated student environment.

The room needed to:

Support a rapidly growing student ministry
Function as a video-driven venue without feeling disconnected
Improve audio clarity in a space that previously struggled acoustically
Create an engaging, high-energy environment for students
Remain simple enough for volunteer teams to operate confidently

All of this had to happen within the constraints of an existing structure- requiring thoughtful design, not just new equipment.

The Approach

Reimagining the Room Around Experience

Working closely with the architectural team, we began by reorienting the layout to better support flow, sightlines, and energy in the room.

From there, every decision was driven by how students would experience the space.

To create a more immersive, connected environment, we designed a visual system centered around a large LED wall, supported by side screens. This allowed the room to function as a cohesive “watch party” experience-helping students feel engaged rather than removed from the message.

Audio was re-engineered to bring clarity and consistency across the entire room. The system was designed to deliver strong, impactful sound while maintaining control- ensuring even coverage from front to back and minimizing bleed into adjacent spaces.

Just as important, we prioritized simplicity. Systems were intentionally designed to be intuitive and reliable, empowering volunteer teams to operate with confidence and focus on ministry rather than technology.

The Impact

A Space that Reflects the Momentum

The result is a unified, high-impact environment that supports both worship and student ministry without compromise.

Students now gather in a space that feels immersive, engaging, and built specifically for them. Clear audio, dynamic visuals, and thoughtful layout all work together to remove distractions and create moments that matter.

Beyond the technology, the biggest impact is what the space represents.

Crossroads Mason continues to see significant growth in their student ministry- more students showing up, more connections being formed, and more lives being changed.

This environment is a direct investment in that momentum. A space that not only supports what’s happening today, but is ready for what’s coming next.
